Fortnite has stopped working for many iPhone users running the iOS 26 developer beta following the release of a new update on June 18.

The update introduced Blitz Royale, a mobile-focused 32-player battle royale mode that promises matches lasting five minutes or less. It is one of the first major updates since Fortnite returned to the Apple App Store in the United States in May 2025.
Users report that the game crashes instantly upon launch on devices running iOS 26 beta, despite working normally on the same version before the update. The issue also affects iPads running iPadOS 26.
The problem appears to be linked to the new version of the app, not the iOS beta itself. Prior to the Blitz Royale update, Fortnite functioned without issues on iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.

Because Fortnite requires all players to use the latest version of the app, users cannot avoid the update to continue playing. Those on iOS 18, however, report that the game continues to work as expected.
Epic Games has not yet acknowledged the issue. Users experiencing crashes are left with two options: downgrade from iOS 26 to iOS 18 or wait for a fix in a future Fortnite update.
Blitz Royale is designed specifically for mobile devices and is part of Epic Games’ effort to optimise gameplay for phones and tablets.
