Corsair Announced First "Truly Mobile Streaming" Gaming Laptop At Computex 2022
Corsair is finally venturing into the laptop space, announcing its first ever gaming laptop, the Voyager a1600, at Computex 2022.
The new machine is powered exclusively by AMD silicon, housing both Ryzen 6000-series processors and Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards. Customers have the option to choose between Ryzen 7 6800HS and a Ryzen 9 6900HS, both of which ship with Radeon 6800M graphics. They can also get up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of internal storage.
The a1600 was touted as a "truly mobile streaming solution" by AMD’s Frank Azor. This is because the laptop comes equipped with streaming hardware and software from Elgato, which is now a subsidiary of Corsair after it was acquired in 2018. The laptop sports an FHD "streaming grade" webcam that is supported by the Camera Hub software. Along with this, it also features a streaming command centre above the main keypad. The buttons here are powered by the Elgato Stream Deck software, which gives users access to a host of shortcuts for important functions during streams, including switching scenes, launching media or adjusting audio levels, among others.
Laptops aren’t the most ideal choice of device for online game streaming, but here’s hoping Corsair can change that. The brand’s first mobile outing looks to be targeting more on-the-go game streamers.
The a1600 additionally has a 16-inch design with a 240Hz WQHD+, supporting widescreen native resolution of 2960x1440. It also includes a full Cherry MX low-profile mechanical keyboard, complete with per-key RGB backlighting, of course, and a fairly sizable trackpad. As for connectivity options, it reportedly has two Thunderbolt 3 USB 4.0 ports, one USB 3.2 Type-C, one USB 3.2 Type-A, one SDXC 7.0 card reader and an audio jack.
Corsair plans to release the laptop sometime in the summer season of the U.S. for a starting price of US$2,700. Local availability and price have yet to be revealed.
