A Sichuan-based engineering influencer has unveiled a colossal remote-controlled robot arm, weighing 5,000 kilograms (5.51 tons), which he used to impact a Volvo XC70. The influencer, Fan Shisan, operates the YouTube account "Sword man Fan 13."

Shisan previously showcased creations such as "flying sword swarms" and "giant sword hoverboards" on his channel. His latest project features an ambitious design outside his usual blade-themed works.
The massive robot arm initially appeared fixed to a rotating base, allowing it to swing side to side. Its four fingers articulate at the knuckle, with the thumb flapping up and down, all based on input from a hand-mounted controller.
Using the remote control, Shisan delivered a blow to a Volvo XC70 with the arm, which automatically triggered the car’s emergency SOS mode. Shisan declared via voiceover, "We are just getting warmed up."
In a subsequent sequence, the arm was removed from its fixed base and seemingly operated via a combustion engine. This setup allowed its handler to hit the Volvo straight-on.
Well-cropped clips later showed Shisan landing "uppercuts" on the Volvo, sending the vehicle careening down a hill. By the end of the short video, the car was totalled, with its windows smashed out and chassis crushed.
Shisan stated in a video description, "I built a 5,000 kg giant robot arm just to see if my friend could survive the ultimate slap!" He added, "This beast is fully articulated and ready for action." Shisan also described the project as "the most insane DIY engineering project I’ve ever filmed!"
The video employed some movie magic to make the arm appear more sophisticated than it might be.
