The company's five-seater Prosperity aircraft soared through the skies of Okayama prefecture in southwestern Japan for a successful unmanned, five-minute test flight. This milestone marks a significant step towards AutoFlight's ambitious plan to showcase its technology at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan.
Partnering with MASC, a Japanese non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the aerospace industry, AutoFlight's electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft is propelled by 13 propellers and boasts a maximum payload capacity of 350 kilograms. NHK reported that MASC envisions these eVTOLs being utilised for delivering essential supplies like food and medicine to residents in Japan's Seto Inland Sea area in the future.
AutoFlight expressed optimism following the successful test flight, indicating that this achievement sets the stage for further test flights across various cities in Japan. The company did not disclose specific details regarding the upcoming test flights but hinted at expanding its demonstration activities in the region.
