Vice President Chen Yu revealed plans to establish showrooms in Tokyo and the Osaka region before the anticipated launch later this year, as reported by Nikkei. This strategic move follows Zeekr's recent expansion into other right-hand-drive markets such as Hong Kong, Thailand, and Singapore. The Zeekr 009 van and the X crossover, priced at RMB 439,000 (US$61,000) and RMB 200,000 (US$27,900) respectively in China, will be part of the lineup.

Zeekr aims to expand its global presence to 50 countries and regions by the end of this year, up from the current 30. In addition, the corporation plans to sell EVs in the South Korean market by 2026. In a competitive market, rival BYD launched its most costly electric sedan, the Seal, in Japan in June for 5.28 million yen (US$35,730), a more than 40% premium above its Chinese pricing. According to the Nikkei, BYD sold 1,446 Atto 3 and Dolphin electric vehicles in Japan last year.
