China Mobile, the world's largest telecom carrier by mobile subscribers, has achieved a significant milestone in the field of communication technology. The company successfully launched the world's first satellite designed to test 6G architecture. This groundbreaking achievement demonstrates China Mobile's commitment to exploring integrated space and ground communication technology.

The test satellite, which operates in low-earth orbit, is the first of its kind to employ 6G design architecture. It was launched alongside another satellite equipped with China Mobile's 5G technology. The 6G test satellite features a distributed autonomous architecture developed in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Innovation Academy for Microsatellites. This innovative system utilizes domestic software and hardware, enabling in-orbit software reconstruction, flexible deployment of core network functions, and automated management. These advancements enhance the efficiency and reliability of the satellite's core network operations.

With an orbit height of approximately 500 kilometers, these experimental satellites offer several advantages over high-orbit satellites, such as low latency and high data transfer rates. High-orbit satellites, which travel at 36,000 kilometers, cannot match the performance of low-earth orbit satellites in terms of speed and responsiveness.

Low-earth orbit satellites are positioned as a crucial platform for future integrated space and ground networks. They have the potential to address signal coverage gaps in terrestrial mobile networks, providing higher bandwidth satellite internet services on a global scale. This technology has the potential to revolutionize connectivity and bridge the digital divide.

China Mobile plans to leverage these test satellites to conduct in-orbit experiments, further accelerating the integration and development of space-to-ground technology industries. This initiative will pave the way for future advancements in communication technology and contribute to the growth of the global telecommunications sector.
