XPENG’s first humanoid robot, Iron, stole the spotlight at Auto Shanghai 2025, fist-bumping and waving at visitors while showcasing its advanced capabilities.

Iron features 22 degrees of freedom in its dexterous hands, enabling precise object handling and fluid, human-like movements. It uses XPENG’s smart cockpit AI for natural conversations, sharing systems with the company’s self-driving electric vehicles to bridge the automotive and robotics fields.
Standing at 5’8″ and weighing 70 kilograms, Iron is powered by XPENG’s proprietary Turing AI chip and Tianji AIOS software. The robot boasts 60 joints, 200 degrees of freedom, and 3,000 TOPS of processing power, allowing it to handle 30 billion parameter AI models and process tasks three times faster than the industry average.
Iron’s “Eagle Eye” vision system and 720° AI vision provide precise spatial awareness, while its custom robotic hands and joints ensure high dexterity. Designed for roles across retail, office, and home environments, Iron is envisioned as a personal assistant.
XPENG’s unveiling of Iron follows the announcement of its AI Tech Tree strategy, which integrates AI, energy solutions, and embodied intelligence to create a future ecosystem of intelligent EVs, humanoid robots, and flying vehicles.
Founded in 2014, XPENG, officially known as Guangzhou Xiaopeng Automotive Technology, focuses on designing, developing, and manufacturing smart EVs for tech-savvy consumers. The company aims to become a global leader in AI mobility.
To mark one year since achieving full-stack mass production of its AI system, XPENG introduced the XPENG World Foundation Model, a next-generation AI architecture with 35 times the parameter count of conventional Vision-Language-Action models.
XPENG also launched its 5C Supercharging AI Battery, capable of delivering 420 km of range in 10 minutes, debuting with the new P7+ flagship sedan. In the MPV segment, the all-electric XPENG X9 secured over 6,000 confirmed orders within one week.
Globally, XPENG claims cumulative deliveries have surpassed 700,000 units, reinforcing its position as a pioneer in AI-powered smart mobility.
