China is advancing the use of high-tech innovations such as smart bionic hands, guide robots and brain-computer interfaces to improve the lives of people with disabilities, a senior official said Tuesday.

Zhou Changkui, Chairperson of the Board of Executive Directors of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, said the technologies were showcased at a recent forum focused on disability support.
He said China aims to ensure that scientific and technological progress benefits people with disabilities.
The federation, along with other government departments, has issued a guiding document to promote the use of technology in disability support.
It is also working with universities, research institutes and high-tech companies to develop relevant technologies and industries.
Zhou said that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period from 2026 to 2030, China will continue to promote the application of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies to better meet the needs of people with disabilities.
