ChatGPT Ads Launch in Singapore and Six More Asian Markets

OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT Ads in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan, widening its advertising service across Asia. Eligible businesses can buy ads through a self-service Ads Manager, while larger advertisers can work with OpenAI and agency partners. The company says ads appear only on Free and Go plans, are labelled separately from ChatGPT’s answers, and do not influence those answers or give advertisers access to private conversations.

The launch follows earlier introductions in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and India. OpenAI says the advertising platform is now available in more than 60 countries, giving businesses across the region a new way to reach people as they explore products and services in ChatGPT.
Eligible businesses can set up campaigns through OpenAI’s Ads Manager. Advertisers can also work directly with its Ads Solutions team or with agency partners including dentsu, Havas Media, Omnicom Media, Publicis Groupe and WPP.
The company says ads are clearly marked and displayed separately from the chatbot’s responses. It says advertisers cannot see private conversations, and their campaigns do not change ChatGPT’s answers. Ads are limited to the Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free.
OpenAI said in its announcement that ChatGPT Ads reached US$1 billion in annualised revenue run rate in less than 200 days, with tens of thousands of advertisers using the platform globally. The company plans to develop additional ad formats, optimisation tools and measurement options in the coming months.
