BMW Collaborates with Figure Robotics to Enhance Humanoid Robots for Production Line Efficiency
BMW collaborates with Figure Robotics to enhance humanoid robots for production line efficiency. Humanoid robots demonstrate 400% speed increase and exceptional success rate in recent upgrades. Figure 02 touted as the most advanced humanoid robot globally, powered by AI and electricity.
The lifelike robots have undergone a major upgrade, now operating at a staggering 400% increased speed, with a remarkable success rate.
The founder of Figure Robotics, Brett Adcock, unveiled a video showcasing these humanoid robots seamlessly working alongside BMW's auto brand lines. These robots have been equipped with new capabilities, enabling them to handle up to 1000 auto part placements per day, demonstrating their efficiency and precision.
The initial testing of the fleet took place at a BMW plant in Munich, Germany, in August, yielding promising results. The recent enhancements have further refined the robots, allowing them to execute tasks with remarkable accuracy, resembling human movements as they navigate through installations.
Milan Nedeljković, a member of BMW's board of management for production, expressed satisfaction with Figure's progress, highlighting the potential applications of humanoid robots in production. The collaboration aims to explore the integration of this advanced technology into industrial processes, from development to full-scale implementation.
Figure Robotics claims that their latest humanoid robot, Figure 02, is the most advanced of its kind globally. These robots, powered by electricity and artificial intelligence, boast a runtime of 5 hours on a single charge. The company envisions these robots to revolutionise various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and retail.
While the testing phases have impressed both Figure and BMW, there is no definitive timeline for the deployment of these robots in factories. However, the fleet is set to return to BMW in January for further experimentation, indicating ongoing efforts to refine their capabilities for practical application.
Since its establishment in 2022, Figure Robotics has garnered significant support within the tech industry, securing over US$750 million in funding and attracting backing from prominent figures like Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Brett Adcock emphasises that the goal of these humanoid robots is to complement human workers, not replace them, underscoring the company's commitment to advancing technology for the betterment of society.
