Buyers of humanoid and service robots in Beijing’s hi-tech zone can now enjoy major discounts as China pushes robot adoption.

Beijing’s Economic-Technological Development Area, known as E-Town, has launched a robot shopping festival offering subsidies of up to USD 34,700 to boost robot purchases.
The event, which runs through Aug. 17, coincides with the opening of a new store in E-Town dedicated to robot sales and maintenance.

The shop will feature products from top Chinese robotics companies including Unitree Robotics, UBTech Robotics, and the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre, which is backed by UBTech and Xiaomi.
Also on display are Tien Kung, a humanoid robot, and SenseRobot Go, a Go-playing robot developed by AI firm SenseTime.
Corporate buyers spending at least CNY 5 million at the store can receive a subsidy of CNY 250,000. Individual buyers spending over CNY 10,000 can save CNY 1,500.
Online shoppers are also eligible for discounts through JD.com, which is headquartered in E-Town. The platform has launched a dedicated channel for the festival, offering more than 680 robot models from 63 brands.
Participating brands include EngineAI, whose PM01 robot performed the world’s first robot frontflip in February, and LimX Dynamics, backed by JD.com and Alibaba Group Holding.
Discounts on JD.com start at CNY 50 for orders over CNY 500, with savings of up to CNY 600 on purchases above CNY 6,000.
The initiative aligns with China’s broader push to accelerate the adoption of robotics in both consumer and enterprise sectors.
The annual World Robot Conference is also set to begin Friday in E-Town.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s industrial robot output rose 36% in the first half of the year to over 369,000 units. Production of service robots increased 26% to 8.8 million units.
Traditional tech firms are also entering the robotics space. Hikvision, a leading video surveillance company, is progressing with the spin-off and listing of its robotics unit, Hangzhou Hikrobot.
Hikrobot is preparing for a listing on the ChiNext board, which hosts smaller companies. The board accepted its application in 2023 but has requested further clarifications.
Hikrobot generated CNY 3.1 billion in revenue in the first half of 2025, accounting for 7.5% of Hikvision’s total revenue.
