Beijing plans to support the integration of self-driving cars into online ride-hailing services. Draft rules have been proposed to create a transparent framework for autonomous vehicles. Beijing established the country's first high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone in 2020.

The official Beijing Daily reported on Monday that the city has drafted rules aimed at creating a favorable environment for autonomous vehicles.
The draft guidelines, which are available for public comment until July 29, seek to establish a clear and transparent institutional framework for self-driving car operations. By doing so, Beijing intends to boost the development and use of self-driving vehicles in the city's ride-hailing sector.
This initiative is unsurprising given Beijing's leadership in autonomous driving technology in China. In September 2020, the city opened the country's first high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone, demonstrating its dedication to promoting self-driving technology.
