Baidu Unveils Xiaodu AI Glasses

Baidu introduces Xiaodu AI Glasses, the world's first AI glasses powered by a Chinese large language model. ERNIE Foundational Model daily usage surpasses 1.5 billion, showing rapid growth in AI adoption. Xiaodu AI Glasses feature advanced camera technology, hands-free operation, and real-time access to information.

They introduced the Xiaodu AI Glasses, described as the world's first AI glasses powered by a Chinese large language model. These innovative glasses boast features such as first-person perspective photography, real-time mobile Q&A, calorie tracking, an object encyclopedia, visual and audio translation, and intelligent reminders.

During the conference, Baidu's founder, Robin Li, emphasised the company's ERNIE Foundational Model's remarkable success, with a daily usage volume of over 1.5 billion, representing a 7.5-fold increase in under six months. Wang Haifeng, Baidu's chief technology officer, announced that ERNIE Bot's user base has now reached 430 million.

The Xiaodu AI Glasses, weighing only 45 grammes, feature a 16MP ultra-wide camera with AI-powered anti-shake technology. They provide up to 56 hours of standby time and more than 5 hours of continuous use, with a quick 30-minute full charge time. The glasses also include a four-microphone array and custom open-design sound leakage prevention speakers that can detect the direction of sound sources.

Baidu's AI glasses aim to improve user experiences by offering a hands-free way to capture important moments while travelling. Integrated with Baidu Maps and search functions, the glasses provide on-the-go access to historical and cultural information, making them an invaluable resource for real-time exploration and learning.

Baidu unveiled a number of new AI technologies and solutions at the event, which will help to drive the growth of AI applications. Among these innovations is iRAG (Image-Based Retrieval-Augmented Generation), a technology that aims to improve image generation by addressing hallucinations. Miaoda, a no-code tool, was also introduced to help businesses and individuals create applications seamlessly.
