Baidu Health Upgrades Artificial Intelligence Assistant With Video Health Camera And Doctor Matching Services

Baidu Health has upgraded its artificial intelligence health assistant with a new health camera and a suite of doctor-matching services. The company stated that its artificial intelligence services have surpassed 50 million monthly active users, making it the largest platform in the sector.

The newly introduced health camera accepts typed text, dialect speech, and photographs. Baidu noted that it is the first in China to allow users to upload videos or talk while filming.
This feature is designed to help users describe symptoms that are difficult to articulate, including skin changes, movement problems, and multiple symptom positions. The recognition technology was trained on 3 million professional multimodal images and over 100 million pieces of diagnostic logic data, with continuous corrections from practicing doctors.
Users can also photograph lab reports using the platform. Baidu reported that report-reading features were utilised more than 27 million times over the past year with an accuracy rate exceeding 98%.
The second component of the upgrade provides a matrix of doctor services connecting users with professionals from top-tier hospitals. More than 150,000 doctors are available around the clock, with responses delivered in as little as one minute.
The artificial intelligence organises user symptoms, test results, and medical history before matching patients with a suitable physician. The doctor then asks follow-up questions and provides a diagnosis.
An integrated appointment service enables users to request extra slots up to 30 days in advance. More than 50,000 doctors currently offer over 120,000 extra slots daily, resulting in nearly 6 million arranged appointments.
Baidu repeatedly emphasised that artificial intelligence does not replace clinical diagnoses. General Manager Yang Minglu stated that doctors retain decision-making power and that technology should assist rather than lead.
Chinese Academy of Engineering Academician Fan Daiming, who also serves as president of the China Anti-Cancer Association, agreed with the assessment. Fan noted that artificial intelligence can extend medicine's reach but cannot replace a doctor's judgment.
Additionally, Baidu launched an open programme providing doctor resources and artificial intelligence capabilities free to partners. These partners include chronic-disease applications, health hardware manufacturers, and online pharmacies.
Integrations are available through model context protocols, application programming interfaces, and hypertext markup language five. All user and accuracy figures are provided directly by Baidu.
