Asus TUF Gaming F15 Has Pretty Incredible Value!

If you’re in the market for a no nonsense gaming laptop, Asus has just the thing for you. This is the Asus TUF Gaming F15 and it basically has everything that you would want for gaming. A powerful CPU up to an Intel Core i7, extremely capable graphics up to a RTX 3070 and a nice IPS display with a high refresh rate to pump all those visuals. Best of all? Pretty awesome value. Interested? Let’s take a look further.

Now, this video is sponsored by Asus so huge thanks to them for that. But without further ado, let’s quickly dive into the main reason why you’re even watching this. The price and to that extent, value.

Specs & Value

The model that we have here sports an Intel Core i7-12700H, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 1TB of PCIe 3.0 SSD storage.

This will set you back S$2,898. Compared to the competition with the same configuration, it honestly offers a lot of value. But of course, if that’s still a little too much to handle, there are various other SKUs available and it all starts from a starting price of S$2,298.

Design

But aside from price, we’re pretty sure anyone who wants a gaming laptop nowadays are more than likely to take design into consideration as well. Gone are the days where every gaming laptop is all about the fancy designs and heavy chassis. Nowadays, gaming laptops just look as minimalistic as your everyday laptops and that is exactly what you’re getting here.

The TUF Gaming F15 features a pretty minimalistic design that combines a little inspiration from Asus’s Strix lineup but with the TUF DNA, complete with a properly robust chassis. Be it at a cafe, at school or even at the office, it’s a laptop that wouldn’t look out of place. And in the event of a mishap of anything like that, you needn’t worry too much either as this very laptop is MIL-STD 810H certified. One other neat thing that Asus has improved over the previous generation would be the trackpad. It’s now 26% larger than before and combined with the full sized keyboard complete with a number pad, it makes both work and play great.

Performance

As for performance, we really can’t say much. It’s great! Just kidding, there’s actually quite a lot that Asus has done under the hood that really contributes to why the performance is great. First of all with this very model, the RTX 3070 does have a 140W TGP which is great. That means it can use more power, which directly translates to much higher frames in games. In addition, there’s a MUX switch included as well, allowing you to utilise the discrete graphics directly rather than going through the iGPU, resulting in yet higher frame rates.

Playing games such as Cyberpunk 2077, roaming the city and getting into gang fights or diving in deep into combat in Modern Warfare 2 with a full 64 player experience is of no issues at all. The Intel Core i7 and RTX 3070 combo here delivers great performance, making full use of that high refresh rate display.

On that note, you might be concerned about heat but you needn’t really worry.

Asus is using a pair of their latest 84-blade Arc Flow fans here complete with a decently chunky heat pipe assembly consisting of 5 heat pipes and 4 exhaust vents. This essentially allows the system to draw in fresh air from the bottom and expel all that hot air out those 4 vents fairly quickly, keeping temperatures well within check.

But performance goes hand in hand with the display. After all, what good is all that performance without a great display?

Display

Here, you get a 15.6” IPS panel with a full HD resolution capable of running up to 144Hz. 1080P might not sound like much but it’s actually still the favourite resolution for gaming. Moreover, it is also what allows for much higher frame rates in games without sacrificing much in visual fidelity. Games like Cyberpunk 2077 were really immersive due to IPS while games like Modern Warfare 2 were extremely competitive thanks to 144Hz. Conversely, it is also a great resolution to have at this display size as it plays really nicely with Windows Scaling. Everything just looks great as it should be. If you’re not a fan of gaming, it will also serve well for you to consume your content be it on Netflix, YouTube or anything else. Overall, it’s just a solid no nonsense display.

Versatility

Lastly we have ports, plenty of them.

You have standard USB Type-A ports for all your accessories, Type-C ports including support for Thunderbolt for yet added versatility, and even RJ45 Ethernet when you’re anchored down and fully focused into a ranked match. Compared to other laptops of this calibre, the TUF Gaming F15 really does offer quite a bit more ports which is always a welcome feature in our books. To add on, Asus has gone with a 90Wh battery here as well which provides pretty decent battery life despite the gaming nature of this very laptop.

Overall, the Asus TUF Gaming F15 offers a lot for the money. It really is pretty value oriented and Asus has definitely noted the things that are of most important to gamers and general users alike.

Is it the perfect gaming laptop however? Of course not. There are quite a few things that can still be improved here but there really isn’t such a thing as a perfect gaming laptop in the first place. Ultimately however, for a starting price of just about S$2,298, the Asus TUF Gaming F15 does strike a nice balance and to that, we’ve to say kudos to Asus.
