Asus’ New Vivobook 13 Slate OLED Is the World’s First Detachable Laptop

In its global press launch held on November 3, Asus unveiled the world’s first 13.3-inch Windows detachable laptop.

Known for its impressive lineup of laptops, from the Vivobook to the Zenbook, Asus' latest creation is also the world’s only 13.3-inch Windows detachable laptop. If you’re the type who heavily relies on your gadgets for work, school or entertainment then you’ll appreciate the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED’s versatility.


Thanks to its brilliant OLED touchscreen and quad-core Intel processor, this multi-talented gem promises to be able to do it all.

For those who work remotely, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is excellent at keeping you productive while you’re on the go. Simply clip on its detachable full-size keyboard and you’re ready to make your reports, write your articles or work on your spreadsheets. Despite its handy size, this versatile device has a thoughtfully-designed magnetic keyboard that ensures comfortable typing. Its keys are spaced 19.05mm apart with a long 1.4mm key travel, which is the same as keyboards for standard desktops.


For increased fingertip comfort, it makes use of dished keycaps. Meanwhile, the mega-sized touchpad is designed for maximum responsiveness and accuracy with a special coating for a nice, silky-smooth feel.


Powered by a quad-core 3.3GHz Intel processor, it also makes use of top-of-the-line components such as a 256GB PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 SSD and up to 8GB of fast LPDDR4X RAM. Additionally, the 13.3-inch OLED touchscreen supports Dolby Vision as well as 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut for accurate colours.


When it comes to connectivity, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED has two USB-C ports, an audio jack, as well as a microSD card reader. As for battery life, ASUS’ newest laptop has a 50Wh battery that makes use of USB-C Easy Charge. This gives users the benefit of being able to enjoy 60% charge for their device in only 39 minutes.

As for security, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED has a fast one-touch login with an optional fingerprint sensor on its power button.


Make the most of your Vivobook 13 Slate OLED by using it with the ASUS Pen 2.0 stylus that has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and four interchangeable pen tips with textures that mimic different pencils for a natural feel when sketching. The laptop also comes with a free Adobe Creative Cloud subscription with a month's access to popular Adobe creative apps.


Aside from the standard model, the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED will also come in two eye-catching Artist Editions that are inspired by pop culture. To be released in early 2022, the Artist Editions are ASUS’ collaboration with artists Steven Harrington and Philip Colbert. Harrington is a California-based artist specializing in quirky art pieces while Colbert is a surrealist based in London.
