Astronomer Inc. CEO Andy Byron has resigned after a video of him embracing a colleague at a Coldplay concert went viral, the company announced Saturday.

Byron was seen on the stadium’s kiss cam with Kristin Cabot, the company’s chief people officer, during the band’s performance Wednesday at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.
The company said in a statement posted on LinkedIn that its leaders are expected to uphold high standards of conduct and accountability, and that standard was not met in this instance.
Byron offered his resignation, which the board of directors accepted. He had been placed on leave Friday.
Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is now serving as interim CEO.
The video showed Byron and Cabot embracing before realising they were on the stadium’s jumbo screen. Byron quickly ducked out of view, while Cabot covered her face and turned away.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin commented during the concert, saying, “either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
A company spokesman confirmed that Byron and Cabot were the only employees caught on camera. The spokesman did not comment on Cabot’s employment status.
Online users identified the pair through social media before the company confirmed their identities.
