Apple's AI Features Face Delay

Apple's AI features face delay, missing initial iPhone and iPad software updates. AI enhancements to be rolled out separately in October, post iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 releases. Developers to access AI features for testing through iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas.

The innovative AI capabilities, originally expected to debut alongside the upcoming iPhone and iPad software updates, will now be delayed.

According to sources familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg, Apple is planning to introduce the AI features to users through software updates scheduled for release by October. However, these AI enhancements will not be included in the initial iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates planned for September, with their arrival expected a few weeks later.

In a bid to provide developers with early access for testing, Apple intends to make the AI features available through iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta versions as early as this week, as outlined in the report.

Despite reaching out for comment, Apple has not responded outside of regular business hours regarding this development.

Earlier in June, Apple had highlighted its commitment to AI by unveiling a range of new features and software improvements aimed at boosting sales of its iPhone and other products.

The Apple Intelligence, leveraging AI to generate text, images, and other content upon request, is slated to be accessible on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, as well as on iPad and Mac devices equipped with the M1 chip and subsequent models. Additionally, the iPhone Mirroring feature on MacOS Sequoia will enable users to view and interact with their phone's screen on Mac computers.

This delay follows Apple's decision in late June to hold back the launch of three new AI features due to regulatory requirements from the European Union. These regulations mandate that Apple ensures compatibility with rival products and services, leading to the postponement of the AI features.
