The iPhone maker today commenced the roll out of iOS iOS 17.0.3 that "addresses an issue that may cause iPhone to run warmer than expected", on top of some bug fixes and security updates. So if you're using any of the four new iPhone 15 models, you might want to download and install the update as soon as you can.

To do so, you first open the Settings app, then go to General. From there, go to About and tap the Software Update button. If the new update is already available to you, your download should start immediately. In case it isn't yet, try waiting a few hours to a day as Apple rolls out updates gradually. Your iPhone may also be configured to update automatically when charging. If that's the case, you may already be running the latest version of iOS and may not need to do it manually.

The update comes after numerous complaints from users that the iPhone 15 can become too hot to even touch. Some complaints even note that the new devices can reach up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit when performing certain tasks.

Apple did confirm the overheating issue, saying it was caused by a bug in the software. In addition to that, the Instagram and Uber apps on iOS aren't properly configured yet, according to the Cupertino tech giant, which is why users experienced issues. It also noted that setting up the iPhone 15 at the start requires extra processing power, resulting in more heat.

While it's yet unclear whether the update does indeed resolve the issue, Apple assured users that unless their iPhones displayed a temperature warning, the device would still be safe to use. "These conditions are normal and your device will return to a regular temperature when the process is complete or when you finish your activity," said Apple.

Apple also released iPadOS 17.0.3, alongside the new iOS update.
