Apple plans to transform its digital assistant Siri into the company's first artificial intelligence chatbot later this year. The revamp aims to embed the new chatbot deeply into Apple's core operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

The chatbot, code-named Campos, is set to replace the current Siri interface, according to Bloomberg News. Siri's revamp is a crucial part of Apple's strategy to catch up to its Big Tech peers in the AI race after its initial 'Apple Intelligence' rollout in 2024 met with lukewarm reception.

The development follows a lukewarm reception to Apple's initial "Apple Intelligence" rollout in 2024. Apple recently partnered with Google to use its Gemini models for powering Siri.

Campos will utilise a higher-end version of a custom Google model, comparable to Gemini 3. Internally, this specific model is known as Apple Foundation Models version 11.
The chatbot features are expected to launch later this year. Campos will support both voice- and typing-based modes, becoming a primary new addition to Apple's forthcoming operating systems.
Separately, The Information reported that Apple is developing an AI-powered wearable pin. This device is described as being equipped with multiple cameras, a speaker, microphones, and wireless charging.
The wearable pin could be released as early as 2027, the report stated.
