This move follows Apple's recent venture into satellite communication with its iPhones in 2022, marked by a substantial US$1.5 billion investment in satellite provider Globalstar to enhance iPhone communication services.
In addition to satellite connectivity, Apple is also intensifying efforts to introduce a blood-pressure monitoring feature to the smartwatch, expected to be rolled out in 2025, as per the report.
Apple's focus on health-related functionalities is evident in its recent product launches. In September, the company unveiled a new smartwatch capable of detecting long-term health issues like sleep apnea and providing emergency responses.
Despite these advancements, Apple has not yet responded to requests for comments from Reuters regarding these developments.
