Anthropic to Open Singapore Office as Claude Adoption Grows

Anthropic will open a Singapore office in October, making the city-state its fifth Asia-Pacific location as demand for its Claude AI assistant grows among businesses and public-sector organisations. The company says Singapore ranks second among 121 countries for Claude.ai usage relative to population, at 5.81 times the level expected for its population size. New ASEAN general manager Dale Finlay will lead customer and partner engagement from Singapore as the company hires locally.

The new base follows Anthropic’s offices in Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul and Sydney. Senior leaders from the company are expected to visit for the opening and meet customers, partners and policymakers.

Chris Ciauri, Anthropic’s managing director of international, described Singapore as a natural next step because Claude usage per person is among the world’s highest. He said a local presence would allow the company to hire people who understand the market and work alongside customers and partners.

Anthropic said Singapore combines technical talent, global businesses, research institutions and a strong innovation ecosystem. It also pointed to the country’s efforts to use AI across industries and strengthen workforce capabilities while emphasising responsible adoption.

The company plans to work with organisations ranging from start-ups and digital-native businesses to large enterprises and the public sector. It said demand has been especially strong in regulated fields, including financial services and government.

Finlay, who is based in Singapore, has joined Anthropic after holding go-to-market leadership roles across the Asia-Pacific technology sector. His experience includes nearly a decade at Google Cloud in positions covering AI, financial services and enterprise customers.

He said trust is often the main barrier to AI adoption in Southeast Asia, with the next challenge being to embed the technology into day-to-day business operations once that trust has been established.
