Alibaba is reportedly developing AI-powered smart glasses, with a launch targeted for late 2025.

The project is being led by the company’s Tmall Genie team, according to Chinese outlet Wellsenn XR. The glasses will feature a dual-chip design using Qualcomm’s AR1 and BES2800 chips, aimed at improving battery life.
Two versions of the device are in development. One will not include a display, while the other will be an AI+AR model using green Micro LED and diffraction waveguide optics.
The smart glasses will integrate with Alibaba’s Quark app, which is powered by the company’s Tongyi large language model. Features will include smart search, task execution, and dialogue capabilities.
Alibaba has previously partnered with augmented reality firms such as Rokid and RayNeo. The company has also invested in ARknovv, a startup founded by Wu Dezhou, a former executive at Smartisan and Huawei.
