Agibot Unveils AI Model to Enhance Humanoid Robot Capabilities
Agibot has introduced a new artificial intelligence model designed to help humanoid robots quickly learn and perform real-world tasks. The Shanghai-based start-up, founded by former Huawei Technologies recruit Peng Zhihui, announced the launch of Genie Operator-1 (GO-1) on Monday.

GO-1 serves as a foundation model that enables robots to understand instructions in natural language, perform reasoning, and adapt to changing environments. Unlike traditional robots limited to preprogrammed routines, Agibot's AI model allows machines to learn from human actions through vision-language models that process large amounts of images and videos.
The system uses algorithms for planning and action, helping robots map out steps and execute movements to complete tasks. It can generalise quickly from a small amount of training data, reducing the complexity of developing embodied intelligence.
A demonstration video showcased Agibot-powered robots performing various tasks, including making and serving toast, handing out badges as a receptionist, and preparing coffee and drinks in an office. The company reported notable improvements in tasks such as pouring water, bussing tables, and restocking beverages.
Agibot's launch comes amid increasing competition in the humanoid robotics industry. Silicon Valley-based Figure AI recently introduced Helix, a vision-language-action model that enables robots to interact with unfamiliar objects. Meanwhile, Shenzhen-based UBTech Robotics has deployed robots in Zeekr’s electric car factory, powered by its AI model trained on data from multiple car plants.
Peng founded Agibot in February 2023 after leaving Huawei, where he was recruited under its "Genius Youth" programme in 2020. The company announced in December that it had begun commercial production of its general-purpose robots, manufacturing 962 units as of Dec. 15.
Agibot has developed several humanoid robot models for household and industrial applications. The company is backed by major investors, including electric vehicle giant BYD, Hillhouse Investment, and venture capital firm HongShan, formerly Sequoia China.
