Chinese robotics start-up AgiBot has secured a deal to deploy nearly 100 robots at Fulin Precision’s car parts factories, marking a significant step in the country’s industrial automation push.

The Shanghai-based company, also known as Zhiyuan Robotics, announced the agreement on Monday. The deployment will feature its A2-W wheeled dual-armed manufacturing robots, designed for tasks such as loading, unloading and transport.

A live demonstration in July showed the A2-W robots could meet a production line’s monthly manufacturing target in a single shift, according to AgiBot.

The full rollout will enable the robots to deliver raw materials to support the production of 500 units per shift and perform nearly 10,000 box-moving actions in the same period.

A director at Fulin Precision said the robots would relieve workers from repetitive tasks that can cause lumbar strain, allowing them to focus on higher-value operations.

Founded in 2023, AgiBot is part of a growing wave of Chinese robotics firms seeing increased demand from domestic industries.

China installed around 290,000 industrial robots, a 5% increase from the previous year, accounting for 54% of global installations, according to preliminary data from the International Federation of Robotics.

In contrast, installations declined in Japan, the United States and the European Union.

Chinese robotics companies are scaling up production, with AgiBot and Unitree Robotics each planning to manufacture more than 1,000 humanoid robots in 2025, according to market research firm TrendForce.

In July, AgiBot and Unitree secured orders worth 124 million yuan (USD 17.3 million) from China Mobile.

That same month, UBTech Robotics reported sales of over 100 units of its USD 41,000 humanoid robot, Tien Kung Xingzhe, since its March launch, with expectations to exceed 300 units by year-end.

Unitree founder Wang Xingxing said at a forum on Saturday that a “ChatGPT moment” for robotics could arrive within two years, as AI advances enable robots to operate in unfamiliar environments.
