Thousands of artists sign a petition highlighting the threat posed by AI tools generating content based on their original creations.Writers and actors, such as Kazuo Ishiguro and Julianne Moore, join the protest against the misuse of creative works in artificial intelligence.

In a letter released recently, thousands of artists highlighted the risks associated with AI technology generating synthetic content based on their original creations.
The petition emphasised, "The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted." Signatories include Björn Ulvaeus from ABBA, Robert Smith from The Cure, and Thom Yorke along with his Radiohead bandmates.
Renowned writers such as Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro and actors like Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Rosario Dawson have also lent their support to the cause. Notably, bestselling novelist James Patterson, who signed the recent letter, had previously supported an open letter organised by the Authors Guild, leading to a lawsuit against AI companies currently ongoing in a New York federal court.
