6G Innovations Unveiled at Beijing Forum, Commercial Availability Expected by 2030

6G technology is expected to be commercially available by about 2030. China is at the forefront of 6G innovation and development. 6G offers higher speeds, extremely low latency, and greater connection density.

The forum took place alongside the ongoing 2024 Beijing Zhongguancun Forum, shedding light on the future of communication technology.

Dai Xiaohui, the secretary-general of the China Communications Standards Association, highlighted the key features of 6G, stating that it will offer higher speeds, extremely low latency, and greater connection density. Additionally, 6G will enable the deep integration of artificial intelligence, intelligent perception, and other advanced technologies.

Huang Yuhong, the general manager of the China Mobile Research Institute, emphasised that 6G will not only provide communication services but also expand its capabilities to include services such as perception and computing. This expansion will transform the mobile communication network into a comprehensive mobile information network.

Gao Tongqing, the deputy general manager of China Mobile Communications Group, expressed his belief that 6G will bring about significant changes in various aspects of life, including lifestyles, production methods, and innovations in social governance. The advent of 6G is expected to revolutionise the way we live, work, and interact with technology.

Taking the lead in embracing this technological advancement, Beijing has already initiated the construction of a public test platform and a 6G open test network. Xu Xinchao, the deputy secretary-general of the Beijing municipal government, confirmed this development, highlighting the city's commitment to staying at the forefront of technological progress.
