WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, has recently rolled out a set of new features that aim to improve the formatting and appearance of messages. These hidden codes offer users more options to customize their chats and make important information stand out. Whether you're making a shopping list or highlighting key points, these features are designed to enhance your messaging experience. Let's take a closer look at what's new and how to use them.

Bullet Points:

One of the new features is the ability to create bullet points. This is particularly useful for organizing lists or highlighting important information. To use this feature, simply type the "-" symbol followed by a space.

Numbered Lists:

If you prefer a more structured approach, WhatsApp now allows you to create numbered lists. This is perfect for step-by-step instructions or outlining a series of events. To use this feature, type one or two digits followed by a period and a space.

Block Quotes:

To distinguish a quote from your own text, WhatsApp now offers the option to create block quotes. This helps to make the quoted text stand out and adds clarity to your conversations. To use this feature, type the ">" symbol followed by a space.

Inline Code:

While primarily aimed at coders, the inline code feature can also be used to highlight important information. By wrapping your text with the "`" symbol, you can make it stand out from the rest of the message.

These new formatting options have been in development for some time and are now available on WhatsApp for Android, iOS, Web, and Mac. They provide users with more flexibility in expressing themselves and organizing their conversations.

In addition to these new features, WhatsApp also offers classic formatting options that have been available for some time. To make text bold, simply add an asterisk (*) before and after the word or phrase. Italics can be achieved by using an underscore (_) before and after the text. To create a strikethrough effect, use the tilde (~) on either side of the text. Lastly, if you want to use a monospace font, enclose the text with triple backticks (```).

These formatting codes work without any spaces before or after them. However, it's important to note that the new codes mentioned above have slight variations.

While it's often convenient to type messages quickly without any formatting, these additional features can be valuable when you want to emphasise certain information or convey a specific tone. Whether it's using block quotes to highlight a quote or employing different fonts for clarity, these formatting tricks can greatly enhance your messaging experience on WhatsApp.
