The MSI Summit E13 Flip Evo Is An All-Day Productivity Workhorse

When it comes to choosing a laptop that could do everything you could possibly ask for, and more, the standards are incredibly high. A beautiful design that looks and feels premium, a high resolution display with amazing colour reproduction, a fantastic keyboard and touchpad that can hold up to the rigours of daily battering, a high performance package with good battery life no less. We can go on and on and every single factor makes a huge impact on the overall experience of a laptop. Sure, there isn’t one that’s perfect. But you can get extremely close.

Pristine Design
We first start with the design and this is one particular aspect in which we feel that MSI has certainly hit the nail in the head. The Summit E13 Flip Evo is available in two distinct colourways. Ink Black and Pure White. We have the latter here and dare we say that it’s our pick of the two.
The Pure White is pleasing to the eyes and gives an overall softer look to the laptop. Accentuated with silver trimming on the edges, it’s a beautiful looking laptop that wouldn’t look out of place anywhere you might be. A cafe? An office? At a camp? You name it. MSI has also gone really minimalistic with the overall look which makes this look really professional in the hands of business elites and the likes.
The use of CNC-ed aluminium also gives it a really distinct profile and provides the rigidity and robustness that is to be expected from a laptop that will follow you wherever you go. The weight of just 1.35kg or 2.97lbs is also a nice touch, you barely feel the weight in any decently sized backpack. And don’t be fooled by the lightweight. The Summit E13 Flip Evo is also MIL-STD-810G certified. Which means it can take a beating and more… in the most unlikely of events in which we hope will never happen. But hey, at least you can be rest assured it’ll likely survive!
All Day Performance
Performance is another aspect in which the Summit E13 Flip Evo excels.Depending on where you might be, the configurations would differ. For us here, our Summit E13 Flip Evo has the following configuration. An Intel Core i5-1340P, 16GB RAM running at 4,800MHz and 1TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD storage.
The Core i5-1340P is a 12-core CPU which comprises 4 Performance Cores and 8 Efficiency Cores and can hit a max frequency of 4.6GHz. Needless to say, this is a really good processor that can handle multi-tasking with ease and even power through CPU-intensive applications with relatively great performance. In Cinebench R23, the Core i5-1340P in the Summit E13 Flip Evo managed to achieve nearly 8,000 on Multi-Core and just shy of 1,600 in Single-Core.
Should you be interested in a little bit of photo or even video editing, the Core i5-1340P does perform surprisingly well too.
Beautiful IPS Display
But what good is performance if there isn’t a good display to showcase all of it? A display is arguably equally or more important than the performance of the laptop itself and we’re glad to say that MSI has certainly made a really sensible choice here.
You get a 13.4” FHD+ IPS display that has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 and can run up to 120Hz. The display can also hit a max brightness of about 500 nits and will cover 100% of the sRGB colour spectrum.
Be it photo or video editing, the colours are pristine and pretty much true to life. What you see is what you get and we had no issues doing intricate colour correction with Adobe Lightroom and such. Of course, that also means it’ll perform great for content consumption too. Watching your favourite flick on YouTube or Netflix is really enjoyable with good contrast and colour that’s akin to top tier IPS displays. In addition, this does utilise the 16:10 aspect ratio which can also be known as the Golden Ratio. The added resolution in height allows for more content to be shown at once and provides a better form factor that’s more suited for laptops of this size. Oh and did we mention it can run 120Hz?
120Hz is a huge game changer, especially when compared to standard 60Hz. Everything just feels that much smoother and it just feels great to use. Even more so should you be using the touchscreen or the MSI Pen for even added versatility.
Okay but what are some features that really make the Summit E13 Flip Evo stand out above the rest?
Productivity Features
MSI has included AI Noise Cancellation and a Quad Mic setup to provide an enhanced hybrid working experience. Nowadays, it isn’t uncommon to find more and more companies embracing the hybrid working lifestyle and video conferencing is a new top priority or perhaps a necessity.
A FHD webcam provides crisp image quality while the AI Noise Cancellation and Quad Mic setup delivers your voice clearly. We tried it for ourselves during our usual morning meeting calls and most of us here can vouch for the quality of the configuration in the Summit E13 Flip Evo. A dedicated webcam and microphone, while will provide better visuals and audio, is definitely not necessary here.
In addition, MSI has also included Tobii Aware which can help improve privacy and security while you’re using the Summit E13 Flip Evo. Examples include auto-locking of the desktop when you’re away from the laptop or provide you with visual cues that someone else might be looking at your display should you be unaware. There’s much more to it but we’re certain that anyone can appreciate having such features, especially in the office.
Up to 14 Hours of Battery Life
But now, here’s the icing on the cake. Battery life is stellar with the Summit E13 Flip Evo.
MSI claims up to about 14 hours of battery life and we got pretty close in our own testing, averaging around 10 hours of battery life before having to find a mains to plug it back into the grid. That means you can easily get about your day without bringing the charging brick around and rest easy.
Even if not, it is also simple to top the battery back up via the use of Type-C chargers thanks to full support for Thunderbolt 4.
Overall, we’re seriously impressed with the MSI Summit E13 Flip Evo. In fact, this feature was typed out right on this very laptop itself!
