Audi Announces the All-Electric e-tron GT, One of Audi's Fastest EVs Ever

Audi just announced the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT, two of the company's fastest electric cars. The standard model can run from zero to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds, while the higher-end version can do that in just 3.3 seconds. This makes the RS model the fastest accelerating Audi that will be offered in Singapore. In terms of top speed, the e-tron GT can achieve up to 245 km/h whereas the RS e-tron GT can go as fast as 250km/h. Both cars will be launched at the same time.


Aside from its ability to record quick speeds, the e-tron GT boasts a battery that — under ideal conditions — only needs five minutes to charge in order to power the vehicle enough to travel up to 100 kilometres. The battery has a net capacity of 84kWh and an 800-volt voltage level that allows for fast direct current charging that can handle up to 270kW. The e-tron GT also boasts a maximum range of up to 488 kilometres.

The e-tron GT's thermal management is made up of four cooling circuits and maintains the optimum temperature levels of the battery as well as drive components. When the driver enters a fast-charging station into the car's navigation system, the battery's temperature is adjusted en route to the station so that it can be charged as quickly as possible. With the myAudi app, e-tron GT owners can monitor and manage their cars' charging processes and pre-entry climate control.


When it comes to active aerodynamics, the e-tron GT performs well as it has a drag coefficient of just 0.24, thanks to elements such as the car's two controllable inlets. These provide cooling air to the front brakes and the thermal management system when needed. Meanwhile, the rear spoiler extends to two positions in order to reduce the vehicle's air drag. The fully panelled underbody and the aero blades also contribute to the e-tron GT's aerodynamic performance.

The electric vehicle's outer skin consists of 100% aluminium, while the passenger compartment is made up of hot-shaped steel parts and has support from the aluminium housing of the battery. The front and rear sections integrate components containing cast aluminium and aluminium profiles.


Looking at the gran turismo's exterior, the car features balanced proportions with its big wheels, flat roofline, lengthy wheelbase and wide track. The vehicle is 4.99 metres long, 1.96 metres wide and 1.41 metres high. Along with the wheels, the exterior design consists of LED-Matrix headlights, quattro blisters and the large diffuser located at the rear end. The RS model has the Audi laser light for its headlights.

Inside the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT, you can see the driver and passenger seat placed in a low position as well as floor carpet and floor mats made out of recycled material, a part of Audi's efforts to promote sustainability in its electric cars.


The e-tron GT will be available in nine different paint colours and two styling packages. You also have the option to get a roof constructed out of light carbon fibre-reinforced polymer instead of the standard glass roof.


Equipped with two electric motors on the front and rear axles, the e-tron GT has an output of 350kW while the RS version can achieve 440kW. In overboost, the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT can record 390kW and 475kW, respectively. The total torque comes in at 630 Nm for the standard model and 830 Nm for its higher-end version.


The e-tron GT similarly features an electric all-wheel drive that helps you achieve stability, traction and dynamism when you drive. Upon the release of the right-hand pedal, the car switches to coasting mode. When you use the brake, the electric motors carry out decelerations of up to nearly 0.3g, which is helpful in everyday driving scenarios.

With a suspension system that creates a low centre of gravity and consists of lightweight aluminium axle components, the car's suspension makes for comfort. The e-tron GT also comes with Audi drive select, a driving dynamics system that has four modes and controlled damping. In the RS model, the differential combines an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, enhancing agility and traction. The controlled three-chamber adaptive air suspension and brake disks work to let you enjoy a smooth ride.


Both the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT have lightweight and fade-resistant carbon fibre ceramic brakes. On the other hand, only the higher-end model has all-wheel steering. As the car runs at low speeds, it slightly turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front wheels in order to improve agility and reduce the turning circle. When you're recording higher speeds with the vehicle, it enhances handling stability by turning the wheels in one direction. The e-tron GT has 20-inch wheels while the RS e-tron GT's wheels are an inch bigger.


If you want to configure the displays and controls in your car, you can use the digital Audi virtual cockpit plus that can be managed via the multifunction steering wheel and the central MMI touch display. Meanwhile, natural language control or the third control level can retrieve information on the cloud.


The MMI navigation plus provides online services from Audi connect such as the e-tron route planner, which calculates the charging stops you need to make, helping you reach your destination as quickly as possible. Both models come with a head-up display.
