If you're travelling to or from Changi Airport anytime soon, then you might want to check out Apple's latest update on Indoor Maps, which is now available for Jewel Changi Airport. The Indoor Maps function lets you easily navigate airports and shopping centres across the globe.
It can show you which floor you're on, where the nearest restroom is or where you can find your favourite store or restaurant. You can use Indoor Maps for malls by opening the Maps app on your Apple device, inputting the shopping centre's name in the search bar and tapping on it. Alternatively, you may opt to click Shopping > Shopping Centres and look for your chosen mall on the list that will pop out.
After that, you'll see options for clothes, shoes, restrooms, food, drinks and more. When you tap on one category, you'll get a map that pinpoints where certain establishments or areas are within the retail complex. For example, clicking on "food" will lead you to view a map with all the mall's restaurants plotted out. You can then select a specific spot and get directions for it.
Aside from Jewel Changi Airport, the navigation tool has been rolled out to 15 other shopping centres in Singapore:
Changi City Point
Apple launched the Indoor Maps program in 2017, initially covering airports in over 30 locations in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. These include Berlin, Chicago, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Toronto and more. Currently, Indoor Maps is available for over 100 airports globally as well as various malls in 27 territories around the world.
Apple senior executive Craig Federighi first previewed the feature at the 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference.
