Pokémon Presents Highlights: Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon GO Plus +
Pokémon trainers and fans have plenty to look forward to after the recently concluded Pokémon Presents.
The event, hosted by the Pokémon Company on Monday, 27 February, saw the unveiling of the latest and coolest developments coming to the world of Pokémon.
Here are the highlights:
Pokémon Sleep
Pokémon Sleep, the app that tracks your sleeping patterns and shows you the different sleep styles of Pokémon, is launching this summer. This smartphone game essentially wants to make sleeping more fun by having it affect gameplay. When you go to bed every night, you can leave your smartphone by your pillow, and the game will measure and analyse your sleep. Your sleep will then be categorised into one of three "sleep types". Pokémon that share your "sleep type" will gather around Snorlax, which is the Pokémon you'll be helping research how Pokémon sleep.
Pokémon Go Plus +
Pokémon Go Plus + is a new add-on accessory that enhances the way you play Pokémon Go. Using the device, you can automatically spin PokéStops and catch Pokémon without having to use your smartphone. You'll also get access to Special Research leading to an encounter with a Snorlax wearing a nightcap.
The accessory will also work with Pokémon Sleep when it launches. It can measure sleep data like your smartphone, and has a Pikachu within it that can sing lullabies for you.
Pokémon Go Plus + will be available from 21 July this year.
Scarlet and Violet DLC
Fans of the latest Pokémon main entries, Scarlet and Violet, meanwhile, can expect to encounter new monsters and see more of the Paldea region when the DLC expansion for the two games releases. The expansion, titled "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero", will be released in two parts – “The Teal Mask” and “The Indigo Disk”. The former launches in Fall 2023, while the latter launches in Winter 2023. Terapagos and Ogrepon are among the new Pokémon that'll be added with the expansion.
Pokémon Concierge
The Pokémon Company is also teaming up with Netflix for a new stop-motion animation Pokémon show. Pokémon Concierge is set at the Pokémon Resort and follows the story of Haru, a concierge there handling the many Pokémon that visit the resort. Not much else is known about the show right now, but Pokémon Company promised to share more at a later date.
