Expect AI Integration in More Products, Services in Coming Years, Says CES Show Director
More products and services powered by artificial intelligence (AI) are coming.

John Kelley, the Show Director of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), one of the biggest annual tech conferences, in an interview said that the AI ecosystem would only grow larger moving forward.
"While generative AI has generated recent headlines, the AI ecosystem ranges from chips to robots – and has been showcased at CES for years," he said, when asked about what AI innovations can consumers expect at this year's edition of CES. "We’re seeing a wave of AI tech innovation that touches every industry, powered by advances in the silicon and sensors that serve as the “brain” for AI and data infrastructure, which packages the information for AI systems."
CES 2024 is scheduled to take place from 9 to 12 January in Las Vegas. There, different kinds of consumer products will be showcased, from smartphones to laptops to automotive vehicles to home appliances.
"With $154 billion in global spending on AI-centric systems in 2023 (an increase of 27% from 2022), we can expect more innovation in the years ahead. At CES 2024, we’ll see technology that integrates AI into the products and services we use every day, and powering the devices and systems we rely on," he added.
One of those key every day products where AI continues making a strong impact is in automotive vehicles, specifically electric vehicles (EVs). The integration of AI has opened up numerous benefits for EVs, such as improved performance and efficiency, new safety features and more personalised user experiences, among others. That, of course, won't change anytime soon.

Leading the charge in the EV market are Chinese brands, which look to make a return on the CES show floor after two years of reduced participation due to pandemic-related concerns. BYD recently overtook Tesla to become the world’s biggest electric car company in the final quarter of 2023, suggesting China's EV industry is doing relatively well, with the government supporting the transition. This also puts the country's EV makers in a good position to make a strong showing at CES, where they can showcase their products to international consumers, such as those residing in Europe.
"Large Chinese brands and startups will use the CES 2024 platform to launch new innovation to the world – from the latest in automotive to sustainability, smart home and beyond," Kelley noted. "More than a dozen Chinese tech companies received CES Innovation awards in categories including Digital Health, Vehicle Tech, Robotics and Smart Home and many of those products will be on display at CES."
Outside of Chinese companies, the likes of Honda and Kia are expected to make EV-related announcements at CES 2024.
