Musk, who owns Twitter, said the fight would have no modern elements in order to recreate "ancient Rome." After speaking with Italian officials, Musk reported that the country would host the "epic" event at an undisclosed heritage site.
The culture minister welcomed the fight, expecting millions in donations. But critics accused Italy of commercialising its history. Past suggestions for a location included the Colosseum in Rome or Pompeii near Naples.
