Charge Your Phone Fully In Just 20 Minutes?! Oppo & Realme Claim Just That
Updated: Aug 20, 2021
We saw Vivo announcing their 120W Super FlashCharge at MWC Shanghai last year, which they claimed could charge a 4,000mAh battery in 13 minutes. Unfortunately, we still haven’t seen it come to market. But Oppo and Realme have announced their own 125W flash charge technology that might be further along the pipeline.

Oppo has shown off their 125 flash charge technology that supports a charging scheme of up to 20V 6.25A. Of course, all that electricity means additional heat, so phone batteries that support this fast charging tech will be equipped with double-6C cells that also have 10 temperature sensors built-in to ensure safety.
Realme’s 125W UltraDART charging technology is similar, since the company was previously a subbrand of Oppo and are both owned by BBK Electronics, meaning they’re able to tap on the same technology. Realme also claims that they’ve found a way to maintain internal smartphone temperatures under 40° celsius when using the ultra-fast charging.
While we’ll take that with a pinch of salt, if true, it means that not only is it safer for consumers, it might also result in the lifespan of the phone batteries being a bit more durable than we expected.
Both companies state that their 125W flash technology will charge a phone fully in 20 minutes with the temperature control turned off. If the option is turned off however, it drops to 13 minutes, which lines up with Vivo’s own 120W Super FlashCharge.

That’s not all, however. Oppo also announced their 65W wireless fast charging technology and even gave consumers a sneak peek at a concept design for the wireless charger. Made with glass and implementing a semiconductor cooler at the bottom for heat dissipation, Oppo claims this keeps the back of the phone more than 2° celsius cooler as compared to just using a fan.
At 65W, this could be the world’s fastest wireless charger yet. Right now, we’re still limited to 40W wireless charging as seen in the Huawei P40 Pro+ and Oppo Reno Ace 2 phones, but even those are super quick already.
Unfortunately, these still remain to be proven with actual testing. After reaching out for clarification with Oppo and Realme, we’ve been informed that the companies are looking to implement these in upcoming products.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see them sooner rather than later.
