The electronics giant announced today that the next Unpacked launch event is taking place on Wednesday, 26 July in Seoul, South Korea. Accompanying the announcement is a promotional image that teases a flip-style foldable device, which is likely the next generation Galaxy Z Flip. The annual event is also expected to host the reveal of the new Galaxy Z Fold.

Those who want to catch the event can stream it live via Samsung's website and YouTube channel.

According to various leaks compiled by The Verge, the new flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, as it's being called, flaunts a new water-drop-style hinge, which makes the crease in the middle less visible and allows the device to close flat. Previous releases of the Z Fold have a noticeable gap in between the two folding halves of the devices. The camera flash has also been moved off the camera array on the rear and the bezels on the display are thinner as well.

For specs, the Z Fold 5 supposedly features a 6.2-inch Full HD+ panel on the outside and a 7.6-inch QHD+ panel on the inside, along with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 4,400mAh battery with 45W fast charging and 25W wireless charging and a triple rear camera setup.

The more compact Z Flip 5, meanwhile, features a larger external panel over last year's release. While the exact dimensions are yet unknown, a leaked render of the device shows the panel almost covering the entire front fold. The panel also has a unique shape that lines the camera array. The foldable device is said to also feature a number of iterative improvements in the performance, battery and camera departments.

Alongside the two foldable devices, Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch 6 and some new Galaxy tablets.

Samsung is once again running an early pre-order promotion on the yet-to-announced devices ahead of the event. Those who want to already reserve units can score a US$50 credit on their purchase by simply visiting the company's website and providing their name and email. The good news is, apart from the information that Samsung requires, there's no commitment involved with signup.
