OnePlus 7 Pro Review: Is it Really One Of The Best Android Phones Of 2019?

A lot of reviewers love this phone, and we’ve finally got our hands on the OnePlus 7 Pro thanks to one of the two distributors in Singapore, Lazada.

This phone looks like a lot of other Android phones out there, with waterfall display curved edges, slim bezels and thankfully, it’s easy to hold while not compromising on the screen real estate.

It’s running on a Snapdragon 855 processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, with a beautiful 6.67″AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The display is one of the main talking points of this phone, and it’s a joy to use. Without being too overly saturated, it’s colour accurate and consuming content or editing photos on this phone will not be an issue.

The phone is running OxygenOS, OnePlus’ version of Android, which still retains most of the basic stock Android feel. So if you’re looking for one of the cleaner versions of Android while not particularly fond of the Google Pixel series, the OnePlus 7 Pro might be the one for you.

Battery life is decent at 4000mAh, which means a full day’s worth of usage on a charge. Two days might be possible if you’re not a heavy user of your phone, but one day is the minimum baseline you’ll get out of this. There’s quick charge technology, but no wireless charging ability.

There are three cameras, 8MP, 16MP and 48MP, which allows for wide-angle, telephoto zoom and standard shooting modes. These aren’t the fastest cameras on the market, but the photos that come out of them are pretty impressive. The front facing selfie camera is a 16MP lens which pops up at the top left side of the phone, and it performs quite decently.

Performance is great on the phone with no stutters in day-to-day usage, thanks to the 12GB of RAM and powerful processor. For the price point (S$868), this phone delivers while keeping the cost much lower than some of the other flagship phones out there.

The main issue we have with the phone is the 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the back and front. Corning has prioritised drop resistance over scratch resistance in Gorilla Glass 5 and 6, so while the OnePlus 7 Pro does decently in drop tests, we found that the screen showed fine scratches very easily with normal usage.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is definitely one of the best Android phones of the year, and it’ll definitely last consumers a couple years with the specs inside.
