Turmoil ensues at Twitter following the implementation of new post limits, leading to a notable increase in activity at Mastodon, a decentralised and user-centric social network platform from Germany.

Late on Sunday, Eugen Rochko, Mastodon's creator and CEO, revealed a significant surge in active users, with an impressive rise of 110,000 within a single day. Rochko expressed his preference for Elon Musk to disrupt Twitter on weekdays, highlighting this wasn't the first time such incidents occurred.

On Saturday, Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, announced the imposition of limits on the number of daily posts users could access. This move follows his previous criticism of AI companies like OpenAI, blaming them for utilising Twitter's data to train their extensive language models.

Since assuming control of Twitter in October 2022, Musk's erratic management style has caused some users and advertisers to abandon the platform.

Mastodon offers similar functionalities to Twitter but distinguishes itself through its decentralised nature. Instead of being governed by a single entity, Mastodon operates on a network of thousands of computer servers, predominantly overseen by volunteer administrators who federate their systems together.

  • Twitter's new post limits create chaos, propelling users to embrace Mastodon.

  • Mastodon's active user base skyrockets by 110K in just one day.

  • Elon Musk's management style at Twitter drives users and advertisers away.

  • Mastodon's decentralised structure sets it apart from Twitter's centralised control.
